Buying SPSS? Couple of things to consider!
This is based on conversation with one of their sales folx.
I suggest verifying it with other students who currently run spss
Let me know anything I've gotten wrong, please!
To get started do a browser search for "cheap spss" and do some comparative shopping.
Students usually find sales for $40-$70.
-- The SPSS Grad Pack Standard -- has all the models we will use in Psyc350
-- The SPSS Grad Pack Base -- is missing GLM: Repeated Measures, so it
won't do WG ANOVA
-- If you want to buy the less expensive Base version, you can plan to use the computers
in 230 Burnett Hall, which have all the models we will use, for those couple assignments
-- you might be able to save money buying an "older model". I'm currently running v24
and it does all we'll do together
Below are reminders of some important Laboratory Policies – please see the Psyc350 Laboratory Syllabus for complete details ## You are expected to attend all portions of all laboratory meetings. You are responsible for all laboratory assignments and any changes in those assignments that appear on the webpage, in the syllabus, or are announced in lecture or laboratory meetings. You are to have printed paper copies of all in-laboratory assignments with you at the beginning of the laboratory meeting. ### Notice that the week "shifts" a bit between Fall Break and Thanksgiving Vacation. ^In-Laboratory Assignments are usually completed during the lab meeting and submitted using Canvas before you leave. If not, you are expected to complete the remaining portions and return it to your TA by the day/time they assign. Is you are not certain when they are due, ask your TA. ^^Download these assignments, complete them using Word, etc. (do not handwrite your answers) and turn them in to your TA (ask your TA if you should print out, email the assignment to them, or submit using Canvas). If you are not certain when they are due, ask your TA. ++ You should do these before the 2nd lab meeting, to help you with the content that will be useful for the next several meetings @ Generally re-writes will be graded and returned the week after they are due/handed in. However, if there is a “grading crunch” re-writes will be graded only after assignments that are being graded for the first time. %% These assignments do not have a "normal re-write." Any lost points should immediately discussed with your TA and the errors fixed. Your TA will then update your score. ***Late Penalties: After the beginning of class on the day it is due, -10%, with an additional -10% for each additional weekay it is late. If you must miss or be late for you lab, email your work to your TA before the scheduled beginning of the class. |
