All About Exam #1

You must take all 3 sections of Exam 1a during one visit to the Testing Center, within these dates.
You can not take different sections of the Exam during different "visits" or "sittings."

After the DLC closes each evening I'll grade the Exams taken that day
and post the updated Online Gradebook. After it is graded you can review the
exam by following this Mobius handout!

Please don't use the Canvas "Grades" to look at your exam grades!! It doesn't score
things properly, it won't let you see your answers and the feedback, etc. Please use the
Online Gradebook to see scores for each exam section and your overall exam grade and use
the Mobius handout to go into Mobius and see all parts of your exam, answers, feedback, etc.

If you want to improve your Exam 1 score -- you can take Exam 1b!!
You should NOT take Exam 1b until Exam 1a is graded and you have had an opporunity
to review it, ask questions if you like, etc. So, I recommend you don't put off taking
Exam 1a until the end of the testing period!

If you decide to take Exam 1b, you can choose to retake just the terms section, just the
essay section, just the story probem section, any combination of 2 sections, or take
all 3 sections. If you retake a section of the Exam you must retake the entire section (i.e., answer
all 10 terms, or answer both essays questions, or answer all the questions on the
story problem pages). Whatever sections you choose to retake, you must take all
sections of Exam 1b during one visit to the Testing Center.

Your grade for the Exam will be based on your best score on each section of the Exam. If you
take a section of Exam 1b and do poorer than you did on that section of exam 1a, your score on
that section of the quiz will be taken from Exam1a.

Sep 20 will be the last day to complete Unit 1 Pink Things for points

Exam 1 Grade
Your final grade for Exam 1 will be based on the highest score
for each section of the exam
Terms(30pts), Essays(30pts), Story Problem(60pts)

You are expected to complete each and every Pink Thing! Be sure to finish each one!

+ On-line Prelude Exercises should be completed before the lecture to which they refer

*Terms & Hw Pnk Things will be most valuable to you if you complete then before coming to the
next class.

Each class and lecture builds upon the information from the last class, so the better you know
what we've already covered...
Also, Laboratory assignments will build upon material from lectures, so the better you know
that material...

There are a lot (bunches, skads, does it never end???) of these (&%$@#ing & wonderful) Pink Things!
Generally I developed each one because performance wasn't as good on some part of the Exams or on Laboratory
assignments as I had hoped. My 30+ years of research on this class shows the Pink Things raise Exams by
about 6-8% and laboratory assignments by about 8-10%.
So "Do your Pink Things!!"
